Hi, my name is potential student…

Hi, my name is potential student…

I’ve resided in Los Angeles my entire life and yet I don’t ever recall meeting anyone famous, despite having Hollywood in my backyard. But, because of USC, personally i think like we’ve become somewhat of the celebrity among America’s teenagers (well, never to the known level of Taylor Swift or Justin Bieber) because thousands of students want to satisfy me personally every fall. As much as I’d like to think it’s me personally, senior high school seniors want to make yes I comprehend their strong curiosity about USC. They make the effort to meet me personally at high school visits, at off-campus receptions, and during their campus visits. The target: to make sure I can put a real face to a title for an application. I don’t blame them. USC is definitely an extraordinary place where students can come to achieve their academic goals and prepare themselves due to their future careers. But while I truly make the effort to remember as many students as possible, I’m not getting any younger and my memory just isn’t the same as you can imagine, I meet thousands of students during the fall semester and.

My blog series ‘Do This, Not That’ is inspired by a guide provided to me personally by my mom: Eat This, Not That (she thinks I require to drop a few lbs but that’s maybe not going to happen. Los Angeles’ diverse cultures has me trying different meals all time!) That said, we’m here to deliver you with some advice about how to contact your admission counselor and make sure it is a experience that is meaningful both events. Every morning i will be greeted with over 40 emails and immediately tell myself: ‘this is likely to be a long day.’ But through them, I realize these emails are from prospective students who want to ‘introduce’ themselves to me as I filter. Ends up, only four e-mails have questions that I need to answer. Three of them have quick easy responses (I’m happy we have such a website that is thorough i refer to it when I don’t remember something). The past one, this one is special. A student asks me a question i do not know the answer to and I can not find the answer on the website. I’ll just take this challenge! My duty as admission counselor would be to ensure my students are well informed applicants. I understand this process is confusing and difficult to navigate but I will do my best to clarify things for you. I shall do my research and answer your question. I really don’t have all the answers so when a learning student asks me something I don’t know, they’re sharpening my skills. I appreciate this kind of conversation with students because this lets me know that they are taking this admission process extremely seriously and they would like to make sure USC is a good fit for them. Therefore I challenge you to challenge your admission counselor and inquire further questions for your benefit. We’re ready!

5 Things to Double Check Always Before Striking Publish.

1. You have got filled out all fields that are necessary the application form

This might appear like typical sense, but with therefore response that is many to complete, it’s quite easy to unintentionally skip or disregard a concern. Be yes to respond to all applicable questions so that you submit an application that is complete.

2. No errors or typos

We recognize that senior royal vegas casino real money year is just a busy time, but absolutely leave time to proofread your application. Have friend or family member do the exact same for you personally. A credit card applicatoin that is riddled with errors demonstrates you do not know how to write and/or don’t care enough to check your work, both of that are detrimental.

3. You really explain why you wish to attend USC, be specific

Most colleges will ask question akin to ‘Why would you like to attend our institution?’ Instead than being generic and stating you want an university with school spirit, in a large city, where you are able to study biology, do your research and mention specific programs, research opportunities, or classes that interest you.

4. Academic summary and self-reported supplemental test scores

Even though your academic history and self-reported test scores appear as optional products, it is in your benefit to complete them on the common application. Often test ratings or transcripts will get lost in the mail, if you self-report the information as well so it helps. This way we can continue to gauge your file in the meantime while waiting for the official documents to arrive.

5. That you actually hit the submit button…for both app that is common supplement

Every year you will find students who surprisingly forget to actually hit the submit button. Additionally sometimes, students hit submit for the common app, but forget to submit the USC Supplement. It could be the easiest part regarding the application, but make sure you bear in mind that last step.

*Deadlines are very important so please take note that you must submit by December 1st to be viewed for merit scholarship. With that said, we know some things are out of your control such as letters of suggestion and transcripts that are official. That is another explanation it is important to fill out your educational summary, even as we wait for official documents to arrive as we can evaluate that in the meantime. Make an effort to have all documents in by December 1st, but we realize if some of these documents that are supplemental in only a little following the deadline.
